Is Modafinil the same as Adderall? | Health Matter

Modafinil and Adderall are not the same, although both are prescribed to improve alertness and focus. Modafinil is a wakefulness-promoting agent commonly used to treat narcolepsy, sleep apnea–related sleepiness, and shift work sleep disorder. It works by influencing brain chemicals linked to wakefulness and cognition.

Adderall, on the other hand, is a stimulant containing amphetamine salts and is primarily prescribed for ADHD and narcolepsy. Adderall directly stimulates the central nervous system and has a higher potential for dependence and abuse.

Modafinil is generally considered milder, with fewer stimulant-like side effects. Learn more about Modafinil at HealthMatter.
